As always, the time must be right to write reviews. The writing process of such a recension is as much an artistic process as it is for a music album. Well, maybe not quite that elaborate, but you get my drift.

So, at the beginning of the terrible year of the Dark Lord 2022, XCIII‘s1 newest offering Void just did not talk to us. Impossible to wrap our minds around something so avant-garde, it just wouldn’t fit the RMR crew’s Extreme Metal damaged brains of mid-January.

At RMR we believe in the trve power of cover art. It can generate bouts of clairvoyance or feisty comments, whichever comes first. Or both, with any further careless and dangerously politically incorrect appendices you might want to add for good sport.1 It can also be the sole reason to purchase an album, believe it or not. Jump into that misty sonic void with reckless abandon? Quite so.

Rock must be dirty, vile, and mean, right? That’s only partly true, of course, but it usually helps. And besides, the lore of punk sez that tough messages must be an integral part of any rock piece that deserves the label ‘red-hot’.

Again, this is debatable if we look at some bands and their limited lyrical, let alone messaging skills. Now, Ian Voltage here have taken some of punk’s message aboard. They indeed lustily scream whatever ails them currently into the world, and so they should.

RockmusicRaider - Ukraine Coverage 2022

Since its inception, the RMR webzine offers band coverage from 40 countries all over the world, plus a handful of outfits that garnered the label ‘international’. And that is simply because they’re not really based in any one country, but sport members scattered all about the blue planet. Ukraine is part of that august assembly of territories that we currently cover.
