Do you like diving? I do. Or at least, I did. Because Corona killed all the joys of life for the moment. Boy, you can’t even get no beer of that name no more. They just shut the factory down in Mexico, which is a bummer.

But when diving was still en vogue not so long ago, I did enjoy that peace and quiet down there in those blue waters. Corals, colorful fish – and the occasional dread when a shark eyes you too closely.

Treasure Chest Party Quest from their upcoming album Curse of the Crystal Coconut is about the silliest piece that whizzed across my earphones in 2020. But I admit, Alestorm in pseudo-Balkan tracksuit attire singing that getting drunk will make you stinking rich just reduced me to helpless mirth. You’ve got those rare metal pieces that just talk to you. Those that project this visceral connection to your metallic inner self if you get my drift. And this is the way it should be. Metal that docks onto your brain receptors like there’s no tomorrow. Whoever needs vitamins, when you can have all sorts of metal, right?

The debut EP Colossus of Fer de Lance is one of those. A truly epic mix of Heavy, Doom, and – yes – some pretty slow-motion, crazily tilted Power Metal that took the RMR office suite by storm.

Howdy fans and friends!

A long while ago, the RMR deck crew issued that first attempt at glory. A list of most popular posts. Those that stuck with the audience, appreciation expressed through the sheer force of a great many clicks.

Since our last measurement, things changed dramatically and RockmusicRaider progressed further down that road to blog nirvana. In other words, from being totally on the outskirts of the metal music blogosphere, we find ourselves today at least somewhat more center stage.
