Screech!

Angela Gossow in full form and going strong, like an angry cheetah. Expert delivery of Melodic Death Metal at its best really is the specialty of Arch Enemy. And it just blasts you out of your reverie into paying attention to what is going on in your earphones.

The 2011 album Khaos Legions is the last one to date featuring Angela Gossow and Christopher Amott. Complex tunes established around the growls of Niilo Sevänen, just great Melodic Death Metal at its best. Like freshly ground coffee, to be enjoyed by preference in the morning as a little breakfast music. And you will find Melodic Death Metal with a Doom Death Metal component that is very pronounced. But … [...] Click to raid more!

Within-Temptation-The-Unforgiving-2011

OK, I get it! Nothing is ever easy and change is a constant, as there is no such thing as a steady state in physical music creation. And it needs some courage to do the change-over that these guys have done. Like in radical and absolute. Nothing much left of Metal and Gothic or Symphonic, whilst there are some attempts to get back on track.

The 2011 album The Unforgiving from Within Temptation is a totally new direction from what was before. Some of my co-reviewers compared the record to Nightwish, but there is no Nightwish ingenuity in there, … [...] Click to raid more!
