The first full year for RockmusicRaider went by and a great many records were reviewed. A wild ride it was and still is, with challenges galore, some overcome and some still lurking nearby. This list covers records that got released in 2015. And who would have thought that the black section of metal would be getting such attention during this year. Certainly not me. I am looking forward to an even more eventful 2016 and the pipeline does look pretty much filled already – but this is only the beginning.
Well, hells bells! Time to kick this off with the first-ever Intermittent Best of… of the RockmusicRaider story.
This was quite a run from no website a few months ago. To a blog that starts to pay off to some very, very limited fame. And this is just the beginning with – surely – many more reviews to come. With the limited time that I have at my disposal with a day job and many other duties.
Now step back a minute.
We have drumblasts – check! We have distorted guitars – check! We have a female front – check! Ah, only one? Confused! Symphonic influence – check! So, this must be Gothic Metal – NOPE! Well, kind of nope. It does have all of the trappings of a metal record, but it is for sure not your usual piece of Symphonic Metal.

I have no idea where all these mediocre reviews come from I tortured myself reading. And why the fuck I did this to myself is beyond me. The 2011 album A World So Cold from the Austrian band Illuminata is simply refreshing. Perhaps apart from the bodged intro that just wants to make you scream and kick the walls, that is.
