You know, I came across this band kind of by accident. And – at first – I thought them to be without much merit. Not a tune for this cold metal heart. Right?

But how far from the truth! Music of Light has that knack to convince you otherwise, and quickly. An offering from Arventhe most amazing German almost girl band. A bunch of girls, plus Till, the lucky drummer.

Music of Light features a beautiful variation of rock, a kind of Gothic rock metal, and then again symphonic with metal injections. Am I making sense yet?

I am torn. The record I like, yet something is bothering me – especially in the second half of the album. Yet, the 2011 concoction The Quiet Resistance of the Dutch Gothic Metal outfit Nemesea clearly has us in its shiny claws. But something doesn’t quite sync. Only, what is it?

Clearly, In Control was a difficult record to stomach. Its pop-infused synth rock just couldn’t warm our cold metal hearts, and for cause. Yet, The Quiet Resistance captivated us from the get-go.

Following the outstanding Dark Passion Play, Nightwish created their 7th studio album Imaginaerum. And wary we were, believe it or not. Because after such great results, one is never sure how to top the last edition of a band’s delights.

Now, to start, the band – together with director Stobe Harju (The Islander) – decided to accompany the album with a film created in tandem.
