I said it, didn’t I. After Evocation II released in 2017, I could already feel that this bright stage light for Fabienne Erni was not going to last for too long. So, here we find ourselves with Ategnatos, Eluveitie‘s newest in early 2019.

And it comes with a whopping 16 tracks crammed into one hour of air coverage. That is 3′ 45” of playtime for each track on average, exactly what the pop industry and the infamous labels demand for radio coverage. Well, kind of. Alright, now I am really delirious. As in glassy-eyed and dizzy.

I just watched De Lirium’s Order‘s latest video called Singularity. And I can tell ya, they talk about fractals. Fractal Music to be precise, which is already a scientific concept in itself.

And the video tries to depict exactly that thought. So, throughout the clip, you are kinda unsure, if you are inside a computer, in a futuristic and dreary landscape, or if someone just beamed you into a parallel and apocalyptic universe. I just checked the YouTube echo chamber. It had to do with The Heretics of Rotting Christ, their latest 2019 full-length epic. In the midst of the fawning by the usual fanboys and girls at work, I found one guy. And he or she depicted a small file tree, where all of those tracks on this new record got classified as ‘bad songs’.

Woe, someone had the courage to enter a negative remark into the usual virulent strings of YouTube commenting prowess. Something that we do not see too often, but smartly done with a picture.

It took me a while to figure out where I already heard this kind of free-wheeling style. This chanting about the soundscape that kinda goes all over the place, but still keeps you glued to the boombox. Even if it is not quite ‘your style’.

Lenore S. Fingers it was, from Italy. Alternative Metal of sorts with a somewhat confusing song structure. Only here, Space Cult present a similar tune but fully embedded on rocky shores only. With no metal anywhere in sight.
