Will the number 13 turn out to be bad? After all, it’s considered THE bad omen for most of the world. Loki managed to get Baldur1 killed after arriving as the 13th guest at a dinner in Valhalla. Or – Judas served as the 13th participant at the last supper, allegedly.2 So, there’s a certain unease about that number in Western Culture, which is often associated with bad luck.

By the end of 2022, the RMR reviewers realized that Xaon‘s latest record – The Lethean – never quite made it onto our swampy review pipe. And in truth, what record in its right state would want to dwell in that steamy sump just to be lost forever, right? Apolostolica was quite a surprise back in 2021. The band emerged out of nowhere in full anonymous mode à la Ghost on the Power Metal train with Haeretica Ecclesia. The band’s debut came along as one full-throttled PM album of a band staffed by reputable and established musicians from a variety of bands. That’s what we were told, to be precise. Especially Ezekiel‘s croaks sounded suspiciously similar to some of the bigger players out there in the metal multiverse.

Long gone are times when we split everything between Hard Rock and its younger sibling Heavy Metal.
