You know, I like swagger in a band. And if they can produce good metal AND they have a good cover story to boot, like the Hungarian Groove Metal outfit Omega Diatribe, then it is almost sold. Of course, the quality of their tune will take precedence – after all the music counts, not the posture. 

Their story?

A contract has been passed between humans and some psycho aliens about the limited use of Earth’s resources. This is called Omega Diatribe. Once time’s up only open-minded people can survive this transition.

Someone is knocking on Heavy Metal’s door! Big time. And who is brandishing these fucking pipes? ‘Tis must come from Ronnie James Dio, but this dear friend and companion met the other side for a while now. 

It is Iuri Sanson of the Brazilian Power and Heavy Metal band Hibria. With their self-titled 2015 amazingly rocky album, no less. The RMR deck crew really fancy their powerful and – I daresay – old-style approach to metal. Kind of showing the Great Old Ones of Heavy Metal where the new masters are.

Soft music playing and a voice goes: In times past there lived a king and queen of the Ancient Metal Kingdom who said to each other every day of their lives: “If only we had a metal child!”.

And yet, they had none. One day, the queen was bathing and an ugly frog with a Motörhead tattoo came out of the water, leered at her, and said drooling: “Thy wish shall be fulfilled. If you kiss and cuddle me, oh succulent one, thou shalt witness my transformation and get a child.”

Boy, this is Scandinavian month @ RMR – for sure. And with some more Progressive Metal to boot. 

This time we are going deep down into the cold Northern fjords. The Norwegian Progressive Rock and Metal band Leprous have been on a roll over these past years. They churned out album after album rating highly with fans on the metal Richter scale.
