RockmusicRaider Review - The Atrophic - Coagulating Mirth - Album Cover

It’s funny. The Atrophic is a new band. So new, they haven’t yet found a space in the mighty metal archives.1 And, for some reason, this band opines that – somehow – Technical Death Metal cannot be fun and is shunned by many – because it’s just noize hacked to death by metal-crazed technicians.2 Add melody and symphony to this shebang or ban all these clueless misfits to the 11th circle of hell.3

Yet, once the RMR crew let Coagulating Mirth roar out of its cage, we were all ears. And indeed, their debut EP turned … [...] Click to raid more!

Saor - Origins - Album Cover

They’re like satellites that never connect to planet RMR. Bands that somehow float about our very own solar system, but more on an impossibly erratic course than the usual ellipse. It’s a bit like those comets that make no sense because nobody really understands what they do once they’re in intergalactic space.

And it is bands like Saor that buzz about our space but never quite reach the surface of our metallic abode. Our review pipe without Caledonian Metal. That’s not normal.

You see, Kintsugi – the name of the clip – describes the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with – as the lore goes – a mix containing precious metals. In other … [...] Click to raid more!

Alestorm - Seventh Rum of a Seventh Rum - Album Cover

Do you know Mallorca, the sunny island in the warm Mediterranean sea? A haven for cheap mass tourism and a modern Tortuga for the good ol’ booze-crazed party folk. And it’s also the questionable home of the Ballermann (for the Germans) or Magaluf (for you Brits reading this), seedy miles of artificial glitzy fun that spawned their very own gaudy pop stars. I kid you not.

The only thing that’s missing is probably a very own Alestorm Pirate Bar or something. A place to boost your moonshine-guzzling savvy up to that famed seventh rum. A tasty new opportunity for an … [...] Click to raid more!
