Katja Moslehner left the Medieval and Pagan Folk masters Faun in 2017. If you remember, the lady joined in 2013, just in time for the release of the much-contested record Von den Elben.

Her era led trough those turbulent times that spawned the follow-on records Luna and Midgard. Albums that – together with the aforementioned Von den Elben – enjoyed (and still enjoy) an undeniable and pretty fulminant success. And this at a time when Faun faced significant attacks from an increasingly virulent fan base.

Ah, contrite Rockmusicraider needs to report a questionable decision. A long time ago, the RMR crew chose to issue reviews and – potentially – news pieces in local language as well as in the generally accepted English format.

Of course only if someone of the deck crew actually would master the language and the artists involved would – by the same token – predominantly use the lingo. In other words, no Google Translate ever with its sometimes bizarre outcomes. This netted a series of reviews in a language natural to the fan crowd. First, we need to get back down to earth. It’s a bit like one of those old satellites that re-enter the atmosphere before they burn and crash onto lands unknown. I have never seen a hype quite like the one Faun went through once they changed style and direction, first on Von den Elben and then followed by Luna. And a totally negative one at that.

A few years back, the German Medieval Folk band Faun suddenly reached into that box of magic wonders. This deep and mysterious magician’s hat that will always remain elusive of its contents. Until the show is over and the last trick is consumed.

And out came the 2013 record Von den Elben. A pretty cool and truly juicy record. One that nobody expected to be that – mainstream. Yes, you heard that right. A new style and direction that would be reinforced one year later in Luna. And the full monty in German language to boot.
