By the salty tongue of Loki, that terrible jester. I am really a happy camper today. Because I almost feared that Faun would suddenly veer away from the path to the right that they took with their 2013 piece Von den Elben.

But luckily, there’s nothing to it. It would have been a real pity, had they tried the old well-known howling again. But hey, I guess that Universal’s fingerprints are all over this particular crime. And those folks calmed Faun‘s worst urges down.

Experimental Archaeology is an actual scientific branch that strives to reenact technologies, ways of life, and techniques of long-gone times. Very much by trial and error and fueled by whatever fragments the remnants of the past cough up. It is an exciting way to conduct practically oriented archaeology and to understand things by doing, as opposed to digging endlessly around dusty sites, and live to theorize about your findings later.

Monumental change took place within the confines of Eluveitie. Anna Murphy and her entourage (or faction, as evil tongues have it) left the band in 2016 seemingly in protest. And that meant long-time drummer Merlin Sutter and guitarist Ivo Henzi left with her to found Cellar Darling. Or – as the lore goes – Merlin got left first and the others chose to follow suit.
