Already Eternal Storm‘s debut album Come The Tide generated some giant waves over here. A moon-driven show of force that waltzed straight onto the lofty heights of the RMR 2019 Top 10. A relatively rare occurrence, but not completely unheard of.

And that’s all great but – at the same time – kind of scary for a first-ever record of a band. Because this posed an immediate challenge to Eternal Storm. The RMR crew was forever mesmerized by Folkesange, Myrkur‘s 2020 piece. Full-throttle and somewhat unhinged folk, tongue-in-cheek, with that hidden evil streak that renders Ms. Bruun‘s records so alluring. And I still vibrantly remember when M hit, that excellent piece so full of controversy. Half of the extreme metal adepts were foaming at the mouth and the rest kinda careened between disbelief and adoration. All of that led to an excellent brand of filigrane yet blackened fury that the RMR crew always found alluring.

Video: Final Coil deliberate Chemtrails! Wait, what?

Whoa, folks! Rendition in Dystopia right here in a video. Pain and suffering in dirty cellars, complete with waterboarding. That’s what Final Coil’s latest clip Chemtrails depicts. The band landed one hardened metal blow that I didn’t quite expect from an outfit with an out-of-the-box yet refined style of Alternative and Progressive Rock and Metal.

Somnambulant II, the ghostly rendering of olde songs, placed Final Coil firmly on our radar. And now they’re gearing up to release their new record The World We Inherited in early ’24. So, here they are with a clip that didn’t quite click … [...] Click to raid more!

I am going to make a bold statement. Those who don’t fancy Myrkur1 and her metal machinations won’t appreciate Dawn of a Dark Age. The RMR reviewers just came across a band so out-of-the-box that the famous crate already disappeared in the haze somewhere. An outfit that has put the term ‘pig-headed’ to shame – and then added a few layers to the meaning of genre fusion.
