What better style than Industrial Metal to invoke all of them demons that seem to haunt the modern global workings these days. And the German NDH movement may be the perfect backdrop for that kind of theme.

Eli Van Pike indeed have ample material for their tune in these troubled times, with the American government running roughshod over everything and anything. And the German class politique – indeed the whole of Europe – unable or unwilling to stand up to the bully. So, in a sense, the title In Flames (not the band, the track) is more than fitting.

I said it, didn’t I. After Evocation II released in 2017, I could already feel that this bright stage light for Fabienne Erni was not going to last for too long. So, here we find ourselves with Ategnatos, Eluveitie‘s newest in early 2019.

And it comes with a whopping 16 tracks crammed into one hour of air coverage. That is 3′ 45” of playtime for each track on average, exactly what the pop industry and the infamous labels demand for radio coverage. Well, kind of. Monumental change took place within the confines of Eluveitie. Anna Murphy and her entourage (or faction, as evil tongues have it) left the band in 2016 seemingly in protest. And that meant long-time drummer Merlin Sutter and guitarist Ivo Henzi left with her to found Cellar Darling. Or – as the lore goes – Merlin got left first and the others chose to follow suit.
