The Canadian East seems to be afloat with reckless rockers. Those in love with high-octane, scratchy rock’n’roll that will just get on your good side. There must be something in the water that generates crunch and genuine oomph. But whatever the reason may be, this is jolly good news for us rock adepts.

The RockmusicRaider deck crew already came across this devil-may-care attitude with bands like the excellent Last Bullet or again Vinyl Hero. But none do it with more abandon than the Halifax-based Hitman and their first installment of an EP The Offering.

Dark Sarah always kind of moved about the periphery of the RockmusicRaider rocky multiverse. Often just a short radar blip on occasion, the RMR deck crew nevertheless is pretty conscious of them. Now, we just stumbled across their newest video The Gods Speak.

And at first, it feels like your usual Symphonic Metal piece of work. But then take this: The track features Marko Hietala (Nightwish) and Zuberoa Aznárez (Tragul, Diabulus in Musica). ‘Tis a pretty cool constellation. Nobody quite does it like SAATE, the amazing Swedish metallers. You don’t believe me? Well, nobody yet managed to get on the RockmusicRaider blog two times in a row with a video in this fashion.

Already the band’s first video – The Conjuring – got the deck crew’s attention real quick. But this time they topped it up with a few more moving pictures with Sovereign Plea. At levels of quality that soar at least as high as the first video, and with a slightly different tinge to boot.

Rarely and usually completely out of the blue, you get these refreshing blurbs of rock and metal that will make you keep your faith in modern music. True, there were no real breakthroughs anymore lately in terms of new styles. But then bands with promise continue to come along. Those who know how to string elements together just right and forge a blazing hot slab of rock.
